Tips for Finding the Right Real Estate Agent
In a crowded and seemingly complicated real estate market, it’s important to know what to look for in a partner for buying or selling property.
In the current 2022 real estate market, buying or selling a home can be an overwhelming process when dealing with changing real estate values, fluctuating interest rates, and identifying a great Realtor to work with on the transaction. Not all agents work the same way. The most important attribute of an agent is that they are well connected to the real estate industry. The agent should know the market and provide information on past sales, current listings, their marketing plan, and at least 4 solid references. In addition, you also want to look for an agent that is honest, assertive, and one that best understands your needs.
1. Find a full-time Realtor: There are those who work part-time as Realtors® – they are simply licensed and have another full-time job. That potential lack of up-to-date industry knowledge and experience, as well as flexibility of scheduling will be a problem in many instances. You need a realtor who is dedicated to their profession, has the knowledge and experience and who will be available when you are.
2. Look for someone with experience: Buyers and sellers want a realtor who has years of experience and is part of an organization that has many years in the business, expertise, incredible insight, and has cultivated quality agent to agent relationships.
3. Find an area specialist: You need someone local to the area in which you are looking to buy. They will be familiar with the market and are already deeply rooted in community. Sometimes the little details like knowing the neighbors, best places to eat and neighborhood property trends can make the difference in identifying the perfect home for a client.
4. Know how busy the Realtor is: Is the agent producing only a couple transactions per year, or per month? Realtors who are selling two to four homes monthly are on the right track. Busy agents know the market and are in the full-time mindset of helping clients get to the finish line with their home purchase.
5. Look up personal websites and reviews: Finding an active Realtor is the easy part, but knowing if you connect with them, is another important step. A great way to vet an agent is by looking up their “about” section on their website and reviewing testimonials from recent transactions. Based on what others genuinely say about the Realtor, one can get a good feel for her/him before reaching out.
It is imperative to find the right Realtor who will dedicate themselves to helping you with one of the biggest decisions of your life: buying or selling a home. People want someone who is active, passionate about their trade, and who is out there selling properties consistently.
